Over twenty years ago, my initial interest and special awareness of water began quite simply with my concern around one city's sewage system. It was polluting a Creek and a Lake. I began asking questions-of myself and others and eventually came to see that there was a logical, low cost solution to the problem. Compost toilets! If people were not toilet trained to water they would not consider using it as a waste vehicle. As time went on, my awareness grew.
Working on water issues such as the one I just described, and through this connecting with other folks who were concerned about water issues, I discovered a wealth of information. I learned about Acid Rain, Groundwater Contamination and Depletion, and Diversion of Water; to name just a few water atrocities.. . and my awareness grew.
It was at about this point, unable to change public openness to logical solutions that a sense of overwhelm arrived on the scene. I was overcome and feeling like the boy who pointed out that the Emperor had no clothes.
Still I persisted in my growing awareness of the nature and grace of water. I was coming to see the true sacredness of water. I gave up complaining and agonizing about the things being done to water and started thanking the water. It was then that I realized that it was possible to interact with the Water or the Spirit of Water. That was the beginning of a new awareness. Then one day it seemed I heard the voice of water. It is so amazing to be recognized and acknowledged by the Water. Her presence is soothing and gentle in a misting rain or peacefulness in a lake...... and so I continued on my journey over the years.
